Anisotropic mesh adaptation for the computation of Lagrangian coherent structures

The computation of Lagrangian coherent structures is a delicate issue. These structures are characterized by very steep variations. In a recent paper, Garon et al. proposed an anisotropic mesh adaptation method in order to compute the FTLE field using a metric based anisotropic mesh adaptation method. We wull present a more efficient approach introduced in Fortin, Briffard and garon based on a new hierarchical mesh adaptation method.
